05/25/2005 - NORTH DAKOTANS WIN MISSION TRIP TO AFRICA: Newlyweds Win Food for the Hungry’s “Where in the Kingdom Contest
Phoenix, May 25, 2005 – Food for the
Hungry and K-LOVE Radio announced that Jeremy Skoglund, 26, of
Williston, ND, is the grand prizewinner of the “Where in the Kingdom
contest. Skoglund won a five-day mission trip for two to Kenya, and
will get to visit Food for the Hungry projects throughout the country
with K-LOVE on-air personality, Mike Novak.
“Sweet, Skoglund said when he found out that he was the winner. “We’ve
always wanted to go to Kenya and especially on an international
missions trip. Skoglund, is planning to take his wife Erica, and, this
will be the first overseas trip.“ Jeremy gets all the credit, said
Erica. “He listened to all the clues on K-LOVE and did all the research.
The “Where in the Kingdom contest is modeled after the game “Where in
the World is Carmen Sandiego, and was created to educate Americans
about poverty around the world and to present solutions to hunger such
as Food for the Hungry’s Child Sponsorship program. Through Child
Sponsorship, a sponsor invests $28 a month to help provide a needy
child and his or her family access to nutritious food, clean water,
medical care, education and an opportunity to learn about the love of
Jesus. In this way, the program benefits the sponsored child and the
entire community. In return, the sponsor gets regular updates on the
child’s progress and letters from the child.
“This is the fifth “Where in the Kingdom contest that Food for the
Hungry and K-LOVE have held, said Matt Panos, vice-president of
ministry partnerships and resources for Food for the Hungry. “Not many
people have the opportunity to serve internationally, and we’re excited
our partnership gives yet another listener the opportunity to be
blessed and to bless others.
Jeremy and Erica live in Williston where he works as a credit analyst
and she is a teacher. They attend Gloria Day Lutheran church.
