Pray that tolerance would develop between the country’s leaders and civilians of other ethnic backgrounds. The central government hails largely from Tigrayan background, and the people who are of differing heritage are restive. These ethnicities include Amhara, Oromo, Somali and Afar.
Pray that God would instill wisdom, humility, courage and a desire to know Him in the country’s leadership. Repression, famines, wars and extreme poverty all have played too great a part in Ethiopia’s recent history and have traumatized many. Pray that government leaders will seek peace and will bring about changes for the better. Most of all, pray that God will work in the hearts of government leaders and cause them to seek His grace and understanding.
Pray that God would instill in Ethiopian leaders a desire to retain the fragile peace with Eritrea.

Praise God for the exciting growth of the evangelical church in Ethiopia. Pray that He would continue to bless His church in this country.
Pray that the continued growth of the Ethiopian church would not be quenched by carnality, division and power-seeking among its leaders.

Pray for families who have members living with AIDS, and also pray for the victims themselves. Pray that God would look with mercy and compassion on these individuals and that He also would strengthen Christians working in prevention, counseling, home care and orphan ministries.
Pray that parents will understand the importance of sending their children to school.
Pray that more job opportunities would be developed for young people.

Pray that God would work through the team educating the people on HIV/AIDS. Pray that people would gain a clear, biblical understanding and that they would receive help from local medical centers as well.
Ethiopia struggles with chronic food shortages. Pray for our team as it trains the community on how to prepare for these shortages and how to work with the land effectively. Pray that God would use this as an additional way to build positive relationships with the community.
Pray that God would bless efforts to mobilize and equip evangelical churches to reach out to the community holistically. Thank God for using the Food for the Hungry programs in Ethiopia to draw many Ethiopians to His light and hope.
