Praise God that peace has come to this long-embattled country, and pray that the country’s leaders would successfully maintain that peace. Pray that leaders see continued success in their efforts to open up the economy, employ democratic principles, extend religious freedoms to the people, and heal the wounds of the past.
Pray for the leadership of President Armando Guebuza and Prime Minister Luisa Diogo. Guebuza has promised to continue the sound economic policies that have encouraged foreign investment.
Week 2 - Churches
Pray that church leaders receive proper theological training.
Pray that the Bible becomes more available to the people. At least 10 languages have no Bible translations — other languages with unsatisfactory New Testaments need new translations. Pray that God would make His Word more available to Mozambicans, and specifically that He would bless the translation efforts currently underway.
Pray for the less evangelized peoples and sectors of the country, that believers would reach out to them in God’s power.
Week 3 - Families
Pray for Mozambicans who are affected by HIV/AIDS. Pray that God’s mercy and love will be shared to them. Pray that God would make possible more than the rudimentary medical services to treat the vast majority of these stricken people.
Week 4 - Partners, Projects and People
Pray that lives will be saved through Food for the Hungry’s health program that teaches nutrition and disease prevention. Also pray that God will use the new HIV/AIDS prevention program to bring hope and help to many people affected by the disease.
Pray that through Food for the Hungry’s church strengthening program pastors will be equipped to address the problems they face and encouraged to reach out to the community.
Pray for the children and families who benefit from our child sponsorship program.
Pray for Food for the Hungry staff and missionaries serving in Mozambique.
