Pray that those in the North Atlantic Autonomous Region who have lost their homes and harvests due to Hurricane Felix would experience God’s presence and exercise their faith as they continue to rebuild and recover.

Pray that God would physically and spiritually heal the hundreds of Nicaraguans affected by the outbreak of leptospirosis and give them wisdom to prevent the disease from spreading further or from being infected again.
Pray that God would use the donated anti-parasite medicine to improve the health of children throughout the country, and that through this help, many children and families may come to know our loving Savior Jesus Christ.

Pray that President Daniel Ortega and the local and national government leaders would seek God’s wisdom and compassion in making important decisions for Nicaragua and its citizens. Pray that they would lead the country in solving the problem of poverty and that the citizens of Nicaragua would peacefully participate in the change process.

Pray believers would walk more deeply with Christ.
Pray for unity and collaboration between evangelical churches. Nicaragua has many churches, but the body of Christ has not yet come together as a single, unified family to reach out and serve their communities. Theological differences and interpersonal conflicts have divided believers and hindered the success of ministry in Nicaragua. Pray that church leaders would follow God’s will for unity and harmony.
Pray that God would build up a strong generation of future church leaders, including youth participating in leadership development initiatives led by Food for the Hungry.

Families

Pray that God will provide for the material and spiritual needs of the people in Nicaragua who continue to experience extreme poverty, surviving on less than $1 a day.
Pray that God will sanctify and strengthen marriages. Even pastors and their families struggle in this area. Complicating this problem is that society values men more highly than women. Pray that husbands and wives will love and respect one another, and that God will use the lives of pastoral couples to strengthen marriages within their own churches as well as the community as a whole.

Pray for the Nehemiah Center, a collaborative leadership-training program of Food for the Hungry and eight other international partners. In recent years more than 700 church and community leaders have participated in various seminars and conferences about biblical worldview, leadership, and community health evangelism. These events are opening people’s eyes to the transforming power of the Gospel when it is applied to all areas of life. Pray that the Lord will continue to bless the ministry of the Nehemiah Center and provide the needed resources for the construction of its permanent home.
Pray for the success of economic development initiatives like NicaMade. NicaMade is a Christian business begun by a Food for the Hungry Hunger Corps to support local community-based businesses by providing Christ-centered business training and access to potential markets for their products. Pray for the communities involved with NicaMade to learn how to work together, and that God would bless their efforts to support their families.
Pray for Short-term Teams serving in Nicaragua. Pray that people will have a heart to serve on teams and that the work accomplished this past year will bless and encourage the community members to identify their own resources and continue to develop their own communities.
