Pray for President Paul Kagame, who in 2003 became the country’s first democratically elected president since the genocide of 1994. Pray for continued security in this country, and for continued peace between the Hutus and Tutsis.

Pray that God will raise up spiritual leaders to guide this nation. Many leaders do not know how to cope with the physical, emotional and spiritual needs that have resulted from the genocide. Pray that God would provide wisdom and insight for those who are involved in counseling and discipleship.
Pray that God would protect current leaders from extremist groups who continue to encourage tribalism and ethnic hatred.

Pray that children will be reunited with their families or other loved ones. More than 1 million people fled for safety during the genocide. Families were separated. Children were left behind. Parents were killed. Pray that children will find their parents or other family members to care for them.
Pray the physical, spiritual and emotional needs of children will be met. Pray that the church and community members will reach out to help these children. Also pray for the 85,000 children who are responsible for providing for and raising their younger brothers and sisters.
Pray that the people will become educated about HIV/ AIDS and begin practicing abstinence, faithfulness and other healthy practices.

Pray for Food for the Hungry’s child-headed household assistance program. This program helps meet the needs of children who are living on their own without adult supervision. Food for the Hungry supplies food, medical care and household items to meet their immediate needs; trains the children to use new farming and animal husbandry techniques; and provides adult mentors to assist the child-headed family. Pray that the program will provide the children with the hope and stability they need to build a better future.
Pray that children will be reunited with their families.
Pray for Food for the Hungry’s church development project. This program provides training to help church leaders and church members reach out to their community with Christ’s love. Pray that the training will be well received and that churches would become involved in not only sharing the love of Christ but also demonstrating it in a tangible way.
Pray for Food for the Hungry’s child development program. Pray for staff members as they promote the balanced personal development of the child: physical, spiritual, social and mental.
