Short-term Service: Emergency Disaster Relief
For over 35 years, Food for the Hungry has provided emergency and disaster relief world-wide to those devastated by natural disasters, political uprisings, and even refugees displaced by war.
Most disasters, such as the Southeast Asian Tsunami of December 2004, come without warning, and the devastation is felt for weeks, months and even years. However it is often the early hours following a disaster where relief needs of survivors are most urgent. Food for the Hungry’s first-response team, The Relief Unit (RU), is tasked with providing and facilitating the most critical requirements for this urgent relief – food, water, shelter, clothing, security and medical care.
In the mountains of Pakistan, the plains of Africa, or on the shores of Southeast Asia, the Food for the Hungry Relief Unit has served with purpose, diligence and love - laying a foundation for rebuilding and transforming communities. Not knowing when the next disaster or calamity will come, we continue to seek out qualified, committed individuals to serve with us in these times of crisis.
