Mbale is Uganda’s 2nd largest city, with a population of 1.1 million. It is located near the Kenyan border, 250 miles northeast of Kampala.

Local food consists of matoke (a staple based on green bananas), millet bread, cassava, sweet potatoes, chicken, goat and beef stews and freshwater fish. Ugali, the maize meal based filler popular in east Africa is used as an accompaniment for meat or vegetable dishes.

    Brief description of duties:
    • Evaluate the Child Development Program at Kapchorwa. Why is this program successful? Why are people becoming Christians? Evaluate the effectiveness of outside help, and why community involvement motivates the people.
